The Coalition for Sustainable Roofing (COSUR) advocates for holistic roof system design and sustainable roofing assemblies. COSUR represents companies that manufacture a wide range of roofing products.
Through education and advocacy, COSUR addresses sustainability, resilience, recyclability, energy efficiency, urban heat island mitigation, and decarbonization, benefiting designers, owners, and policymakers.
Carlisle Construction Materials, Holcim Building Envelope, and Johns Manville are long-standing North American-based manufacturers of a wide range of building products. These three companies are collaborating to create a new coalition to enhance the representation of their shared dedication to sustainability within the roofing industry. Because they manufacture a wide range of roofing products instead of specializing in just one membrane type, these companies have a unique vantage point from which to offer insights on holistic roof system design and sustainable roof assemblies. COSUR will advocate for the building owner, facility manager, and roof system designer to make decisions concerning the roof assembly components, advocate for their products to be used holistically and sustainably, and advocate against restrictive policies, statutes, codes, and ordinances. Under the umbrella of sustainability, the coalition will also be active on issues of resilience, recyclability, energy efficiency, urban heat island mitigation, and decarbonization.
COSUR will expand its influence through a variety of channels, including in-person sessions at industry events, live webinars, and the publication of articles advocating for sustainable roof system design. With a target audience encompassing architects, designers, building owners, facility planners, sustainability experts, and policymakers across all industries contributing to the built environment, COSUR will emphasize the importance of holistic approaches to roofing solutions. Their advocacy efforts will focus on sustainability-related issues.
